What's Kanagawa About ? Tell Us About It!

Kanagawa Prefecture can be found in the southern Kanto region, and it is part of the Greater Tokyo region. The Prefecture itself is home to Kamakura and Hakone, which are two destinations that are frequently visited by tourists who spend most of their trip in Tokyo.

Kamakura is a coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture, and it is really easy to get to from Tokyo. It is often referred to as the Kyoto of Eastern Japan, as it offers a number of temples and shrines, as well as multiple historical monuments. Most of the tourists that visit Kamakura go and see Hasedera Temple and Hokokuji Temple. Both temples are beautiful, and yet they both belong to two different religious sects.

Hakone offers travellers an excellent location to have a short-break away from the busy streets of Tokyo, and most of the hotels there are right by the side of Lake Ashi. While there, tourists can go on a pirate ship, ride a ropeway, and even see an active volcano.

While you are in Kanagawa Prefecture you can also take a day trip to see Mount Fuji, or you can travel to Yokohama Port for an exceptional view of the city skyline. Travellers get to decide between staying in the colourful city, or going and exploring other areas of rural Japan and the history that they have to offer. You could even go and see Odawara Castle, which was originally built back in 1447.

Yokohama is also home to the largest Chinatown in Asia, and it has been there for more than a century and a half. There are a lot of different celebrations there throughout the year. One of the main celebrations occurs over the course of the Lunar New Year, with a number of different performances and decorations.
